Sweta - excellent points. Another angle to succeeding in these situations starts with making your message about her/him and the effect that your intentions will have on her/him instead of about you or your priorities. Then you may be able to bend an inflexible belief system that has fostered the other party's negative emotional state. The nature of your delivery is the second tool you must optimize, including the pace and tone of your words, the nature of your body language, and the visual presentation that packages it all. I am paraphrasing another author whose name I cannot recall, and I apologize to that person for not being able to give him/her their due.

And if the person doesn't cooperate, twists the conversation to suit her/his goals, declines to acknowledge your interests despite occupying an inferior/superior/equal position, it can be a strong move to abandon the conversation altogether!
Dear Sweta Gupta
Seasons Greetings
I must honestly appreciate, agree for such a lovely discussion on charecter. In my professional career spanning 40 years I never came across such a indepth explanation on charecter.
While I worked at MADURA COATS which is a joint venture of COATS,UK and Madura Coats ,one of the oldest and best managed company manufacturing thread I used to see a big giant wheel at our entrance to our Mill Gate. Our telegram address was MILL WHEEL.I want to connect that Millwheel to the above mentioned wheel to present any performance. In a wheel you show the various topics as a slice in a cake. There will be small piece which generally shows loss incurred by a organisation.I never used to believe that loss is never shown in charts, tabulation, graphs.
So one needs character to accept failures, losses and not bluff for the time being.I also know that truth can be delayed but can not be made to vanish.
So a gentleman/woman with a strong character may be used as a carpet, doormat ,but the true and hidden figures will surface one day.

I would prefer to be a doormat rather than a first class bluffer and always give cooked up ,jumbled figures to the top management.

Charecter based leadership is many times better than a life full of bluff throught the day and night to survive the rough weather of a professional group.

Your discussion is so vast, deep to answer in a few lines as above.

I have to bend my head and salute you for asking such a searching question.Long live sweta Gupta and similar little angels.I bless you from my heart and mind.Good luck.Thanks.Bye.Bye.
